Good morning. Field software is one of the biggest fixed costs in most shops, and the pricing pages don't tell you the real number. Here's what the three big platforms actually run in 2026, per tech, at scale.
Top story — ServiceTitan vs Jobber vs Housecall Pro, honest numbers
ServiceTitan runs $245–$500 per technician per month depending on tier and size, with a 12-month minimum contract, no free trial, and implementation fees of $5,000 to $50,000+ you pay before the software does a thing (Projul; Tooled Up Pro). Jobber ladders from Core $49/mo to Connect $139/mo up to its top SMB tier Plus at $499/mo — and annual billing cuts each by roughly 20–40% (Core to $29, Connect to $99, Plus to $399), with every extra user about $29 (Get Jobber). Housecall Pro runs Basic $59, Essentials $149, and MAX $299 a month on annual billing — the monthly-billed plans run higher ($79 / $189 / $329), extra MAX users are $75 each, and all of that is before add-ons (Housecall Pro). The gap between "starting at $59" and your real monthly bill is where shops get surprised.
Quick hits
The tier tax. Housecall Pro keeps its sales proposal tool (billed as a $40/mo value) and route optimization on MAX only, while flat-rate pricing and GPS tracking start at Essentials (Housecall Pro).
Jobber starts cheaper. Jobber's entry plan runs $29 vs Housecall Pro's $59 a month on annual billing, and Jobber includes routing from its Grow plan ($149/mo annual) while Housecall Pro reserves route optimization for MAX ($299/mo annual) (Get Jobber; Housecall Pro).
ServiceTitan's real cost is onboarding. The subscription is only half the bill; the implementation fee is the part that isn't on the pricing page (Projul).
The Tip — Price it for the crew you'll have in 18 months
Per-seat pricing punishes growth. Before you sign, build the real number: your tech count 18 months out, times the per-tech rate, plus every add-on you'll actually turn on. A plan that looks cheap at 4 techs can double by the time you're at 9. Ask each vendor for the all-in monthly at your projected headcount, in writing — then compare those numbers, not the "starting at" prices.
Tool watch — [Not sponsored]
For shops under ~10 techs who don't need ServiceTitan's depth, Jobber and FieldPulse consistently price lower with fewer add-on traps. Match the tool to the shop you're running, not the enterprise you're being sold.
That's the callout. See you next time.
